Mosa Meat and Nutreco receives USD 2 million grant from REACT-EU

Funding

  • “Feed for Meat,” a joint project of the Dutch cell-cultured meat producer Mosa Meat and animal nutrition company Nutreco, received a grant of USD 2 million from the European REACT-EU recovery assistance program. The joint project was ranked first in a scheme that received over 60 funding applications. The two companies expect to use the grant to reduce production costs and improve the sustainability of the cultured value chain.

  • According to the firms, the funds will be allocated to R&D and to lower the expense of the base media, one of the most expensive components in cell-cultured meat production. Nutreco and Mosa Meat claim that by shifting away from pharma-grade products and adopting feed and food-grade products, they will be able to considerably reduce the costs of these basal media.
