Onfido, a London-based virtual identity verification solutions provider, has announced the acquisition of EYN, a biometric identity verification solutions provider, to integrate acoustic-based liveness detection and anti-spoofing technology.
EYN’s acoustic face liveness detection technology uses ultrasound signals via the phone speaker to detect if it is a live person or if someone is trying to impersonate (spoof) through a photo or video replay. This technology will be incorporated into Onfido’s Real Identity Platform to strengthen the existing image-based liveness detection capabilities.
As a part of the acquisition, EYN’s employees will join Onfido’s research and biometrics teams.
The company has also announced two US-based industry veterans, Faisal Chughtai joining as the company’s chief financial officer (CFO) and Nello Franco joining as chief customer officer (CCO).
