Massachusetts-based quantum software startup QSimulate and Google Quantum AI have released the Fermionic Quantum Emulator (FQE), a publicly available, open-source software framework for emulating quantum computers in fermionic simulations. The FQE enables the calculation of molecular electronic structures of fermions for material discovery.
The two companies signed a multi-year collaboration agreement in 2019 to leverage Google’s expertise in quantum algorithms and QSimulate’s expertise in quantum simulation as well as build the FQE. Alongside the product release, both parties have also announced the expansion of the partnership. The terms and financial details have not been disclosed.
