Airwallex raises USD 100 million in Series E funding at a USD 5.5 billion valuation

<ul><li>Airwallex, a cross-border payment and fund transfer infrastructure provider, raised USD 100 million as part of an extension of its Series E funding round, which was announced in September , bringing the company’s valuation to USD 5.5 billion. The round was led by Lone Pine Capital, with participation from 1835i Ventures and Sequoia Capital China. This round brings the company’s total funding to USD 802 million.</ul>

  • This round of funding follows an improved performance in 3Q 2021, where the company reported a 165% YoY growth in revenue. Additionally, the company also hired over 200 new employees.

  • The funds will be used for expanding into new markets, M&A, and to invest in product development.
