Storegga Geotechnologies, a British carbon capture and storage solution provider, has announced a partnership with Talos Energy, a US oil and gas exploration company, and Freeport LNG, an export facility producing liquefied natural gas (LNG), to develop a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project called the Freeport LNG CCS project (FLNG CCS).

The FLNG CCS project will utilize a Freeport LNG-owned geological sequestration site in Texas. Talos, Storegga’s existing joint venture (JV) partner will lead the CCS project given its high level of expertise across oil and gas industries, while Storegga would support in managing the project, given its prior experience in managing CCS projects.

Storegga claims FLNG CCS has the potential to sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) by the end of 2024 and would be the first active carbon sequestration project on the Gulf Coast. The project is expected to operate up to a 30-year injection period.
