Geographic expansion

 • UK-based drone logistics company Skyports has partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s (MassDOT) Aeronautics Division for a week-long demonstration to show the viability of its drones across various applications including deliveries in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This marks the company’s first project in the US.

 • The project will primarily focus on developing emergency medical deliveries to remote communities. It will also look into other services such as rail and road inspections.

 • The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved Skyports to conduct flights beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) during the project.

 • The company plans to launch commercial operations in Massachusetts and expand operations across other states in the US, following the completion of the project.

Analyst QuickTake: Even though today’s news marks Skyports’ first project in the US, the company is already involved in various drone-based delivery projects across multiple continents, including the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. The news comes on the heels of the company expanding its coverage to Colombia and the wider Latin American market.
