Taco Bell cancels Beyond Meat’s planned test

Product updates

  • Taco Bell, a fast-food chain of Yum! Brands, has canceled a planned test of a product from Beyond Meat, a California-based plant-based meat producer. According to Taco Bell, the samples of the product designed to replicate “carne asada” fell below its expectations.

  • Despite the cancelation, the fast-food chain announced plans to continue working together with Beyond Meat to develop a plant-based protein to incorporate into the fast-food chain’s menu. The initiation is a result of a partnership signed by Yum! Brand and Beyond Meat in February 2021, under which the two companies will collaborate to create plant-based menu items featuring Beyond Meat products to KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell.
