The Central Bank of Iraq endorses Zwipe’s biometric payment cards

  • Zwipe announced that it has received an endorsement from the Central Bank of Iraq to bring biometric payment cards to the country. 

  • Through this approval, Zwipe will support all issuers, processors, and personalization bureaus in Iraq in implementing biometric payment solutions, conducting business case assessments, capturing user feedback, and delivering pilots and market launches within the year.

<ul><li>Zwipe has entered into several partnerships to launch its biometric payment solutions in the MENA region in recent times. Less than a month ago, Zwipe, in collaboration with Azreeba and an undisclosed medium-sized bank in Lebanon, announced plans to pilot biometric payment cards in the MENA region in H1 2022. This followed a string of partnerships Zwipe entered into in H2 2021, including ones with NetPS (November), Credit Libanais , QPS (October), and International Card Processing Services Ltd. (July).</ul>
