Natural Fiber Welding unveils bio-based shirt in partnership with Ralph Lauren

Product updates

  • Natural Fiber Welding (NFW), a technology company that develops textiles using recycled plants and natural fibers, unveiled the “RLX Clarus Polo” together with Ralph Lauren. The bio-based shirt will make its debut at the Australian Open 2022.

  • The shirt uses “Clarus,” NFW’s proprietary cotton fabric, which is made using virgin and recycled cotton. The material retains the comfort and breathability of cotton while displaying attributes that include quick-drying and moisture management, which is usually found in petroleum-based synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyester.

  • NFW plans to supply the new material to Ralph Lauren amidst the latter’s plan to sustainably source 100% of its materials by 2025. Ralph Lauren has also supported the development of NFW’s patented process with a minority investment in August 2020.

  • The product will be available for the public in the weeks following its debut at the Australian Open and will be priced at USD 168 each.
