24M Technologies receives USD 9 million in federal funding

Funding

 • 24M Technologies (24M), a semi-solid lithium-ion battery developer, has received USD 9 million in funding from the US Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).

 • The proceeds will be used to develop high-energy-density lithium metal anode cells for electric aviation.

Analyst QuickTake: This is the first time that 24M will be testing its semi-solid battery technology for electric aviation applications. 24M’s technology has already been commercialized for residential energy storage in Japan. Earlier in the week, 24M also secured a three-digit million US dollar investment from Volkswagen to develop semi-solid batteries for electric vehicles.
