California-based quantum hardware startup Atom Computing has raised USD 60 million in a Series B funding round led by Third Point Ventures with the participation of other investors including Primer Movers Lab and Venrock. The round brings the company’s total funds raised to date to USD 80 million.
The proceeds will be directed towards building the company’s second-generation quantum computing systems to solve complex real-world practical problems and commercializing the technology.
<ul><li> The company unveiled its first-generation 100-atom quantum computing system Phoenix in July 2021—reportedly built within a span of two years—which demonstrated high stability, scalability, error-correction capabilities. It achieved a milestone qubit coherence time of 40 seconds.</ul>
