Delivery Hero to end exclusive restaurant deals in Norway

Regulation/policy

 • Delivery Hero, the Berlin-based online food delivery platform, operating under the Foodora brand in Norway had to end its exclusive arrangements with restaurants, as it was considered anti-competitive.

The Norwegian Competition Authority (NCA), the government agency responsible for ensuring competition, determined that Foodora had arrangements with the restaurants to be their only delivery partner, excluding other food delivery operators. NCA and Foodora have come to an agreement that the company will refrain from imposing exclusive delivery agreements on restaurants until 2025.

 • NCA has appointed an overseer to make sure Foodora follows through, else it will re-open the probe into the company.
