German drone delivery provider Wingcopter has signed a contract worth USD 16 million with Spright, a subsidiary of US-based air medical service provider Air Methods, to supply its “Wingcopter 198” drones to conduct drone-based medical deliveries in the US.
As per the deal, Wingcopter is the exclusive supplier of drones to Spright’s operations in the US, and Spright has exclusive rights to provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul for the Wingcopter’s drone to third parties in the country.
Initial tests will be conducted in partnership with Hutchinson Regional Health System in Hutchinson, Kansas, with plans to expand the geographical coverage later this year.
Spright will also support Wingcopter to obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications.
