Delivers AI, a Turkish developer of droids for food delivery, announced plans to expand its footprint to Dubai in late 2021.
The company is now in talks with the Road Transportation Authority (RTA) to draft legislation permitting robots on sidewalks, similar to several US states.
Delivers AI plans to make commercial test runs in Q2 2021 and deploy robots for trials in the following quarter. The droids will first roll out at Dubai Internet City, Dubai International Financial Centre, and Dubai Investment Park Villas.
Delivers AI started pilot runs in Istanbul last month with 10 delivery robots, with plans to increase the number tenfold by 2022, and tenfold again to 1,000 by 2023. Thus far, the robots have made around 500 deliveries with a reported 100% success rate.
Delivers AI, develops and operates an autonomous last-mile delivery droid that can travel on sidewalks to make food and grocery deliveries. Delivers AI’s droids can travel at a speed of 3-4 mph carrying a payload of 33 lbs. The bots are equipped with cameras, LiDAR, and radar for safe navigation.
