Geographic expansion

 • Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS), a UK-based developer of hydroponic vertical farms, has partnered with Eden Towers, an Australian vertical farming startup, to provide vertical farming systems for the latter's vertical farm in Peel Business Park, South of Perth, Australia.

 • Founded in 2019, Eden Towers offers vertically farmed produce such as leafy greens and indigenous crops. As per the partnership, IGS will supply its proprietary “Growth Towers” vertical farming systems to build four 12-meter (39.4-foot) towers for Eden's new solar-powered facility.

 • The facility will produce leafy greens such as lettuce, spinach, kale, and basil, as well as indigenous crops. The farm is expected to produce 120 metric tons of produce a year when fully operational, achieving up to 15x the yield of greenhouses according to IGS. Construction is expected to begin in Q1 2022 with plans to be operational in Q4 2022.

 • Additionally, the companies will work with the Winjan Aboriginal Corporation and receive support from the Western Australian Food Innovation Precinct (WAFIP) to use the Perth facility to supply indigenous crops such as warrigal and bush tucker celery to support the local community. The two companies also plan to widen their product offering to include pharmaceutical and cosmetic crops and also expand their presence to other major cities in Australia as well as the Asia Pacific, including Singapore and Indonesia.

Analyst QuickTake: IGS has expanded its international presence via partnerships. With this partnership, IGS has entered the Australian market. Previously, the company entered the Middle East market by partnering with Dubai's International Real Estate Partners (IREP) and Madar Farms (an Abu-Dhabi-based farming company). In Europe , the company secured a partnership with Therme Group, an Austria-based global developer of wellbeing resorts. The company also teamed up with Ireland-based real estate investment and fund manager Greenman Group to develop the latter's first vertical farm.
