Venice-based creator platform for women Sunroom raises USD 3.6 million in seed funding

Funding

  • Sunroom, a Venice-based creator platform for women and non-binary individuals, has raised USD 3.6 million in a seed funding round from Blackbird Ventures, Li Jin, Cyan Banister, Sarah Downey, Michelle Kennedy (CEO and co-founder, Peanut), and Trevor McFedries (co-founder, Brud).

  • Launched on Wednesday for iOS, with an initial group of 100 creators, Sunroom has a monetization model similar to that of Patreon , with subscriptions, tips, and reactions (purchased using the in-app currency Beams), and a social feed targeting Gen Z audiences. Sunroom generally charges 20% of creator earnings, with special rates for its founding creators (10%) as well as Black, Indigenous, and Hispanic creators (15%).
