Heura Foods, a plant-based meat brand, has secured EUR 16 million (USD 19 million) in a Series A funding round led by Impact Fooding. The startup expects to use the proceeds to expand into new markets and increase research and development efforts.
This marks Heura’s second financing round this month, after raising EUR 4 million (USD 4.8 million) via the crowdfunding platform, Crowdcube. The company successfully raised funds from more than 3,000 investors within just 24 hours of its debut on the platform. Heura Foods initially aimed for EUR 3 million (USD 3.6 million) but later increased the amount to EUR 4 million after meeting its goal in 8 hours, receiving funding from 2,000 investors.
Heura is the plant-based meat brand of the Spanish startup Food for Tomorrow. The startup reported threefold growth in annual sales, reaching USD 9.69 million in 2020 (up from USD 3 million in 2019). Heura also has more than doubled its international distribution to sixteen countries, up from six between 2019-2020. The company is also considered the fastest-growing plant-based startup in Europe, with more than 190,000 buyers in the past twelve months (since June 2021).
