Splendid Spoon, the plant-based prepared meal delivery platform, raised USD 12 million in a Series B funding. The round was led by Nicoya, with participation from Danone Manifesto Ventures, Rent the Runway Co-Founder Jennifer Fleiss, and Ashok and Meera Vasudevan, founders of Tasty Bite. The current funding round features several repeat investors including Torch Capital and Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian. This round brings Splendid Spoon’s total funding to USD 15 million.
The proceeds will be used to expand its product line by way of new products, categories, and meal programs. The company also plans to make additions to its current workforce, which has grown to 34 people, up from 15 in 2021.
Splendid Spoon currently has over 50 plant-based meal options and is available in every state in Continental US. The company has doubled its growth rate since 2020 and has over 20,000 subscribers to date, and it believes allowing customers to try the meals without subscription has fueled this growth.
