Form Energy, a long-duration energy storage startup, has entered into an agreement with Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, to deploy Form Energy’s proprietary technology to support long-duration energy storage.
Under the agreement, both companies expect to deploy a 15-megawatt project of energy storage systems. The collaboration enables Georgia Power to conduct its R&D activities by utilizing Form Energy’s multi-day energy storage technology to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

The company had a breakthrough last year when it unveiled an iron-air battery with a storage duration of around 100 hours , compared to current long-duration batteries that last around five to 10 hours. Form Energy also claims its new battery would cost 1/10th of conventional Li-ion batteries.</ul>
