Cust2Mate to pilot smart carts with Mexican retailer Chedraui

Partnerships

  • Israel-based smart cart provider Cust2Mate is partnering with Mexico’s third-largest retailer Chedraui to roll out smart carts at their flagship store in Mexico City. Chedraui operates over 250 stores across Mexico and the US (including California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada) under the name El Super.

  • Cust2Mate smart carts automatically scan purchased items and enable in-cart payments, allowing shoppers to bypass checkout lines. Equipped with a barcode scanner, image validation, and anti-fraud weighing systems, Cust2Mate smart carts record each purchase while minimizing shrinkage. The carts also provide shelf heatmaps for targeted advertising, direct marketing, and special promotions, contributing to an estimated 30% increase in sales per purchase basket.

  • Cust2Mate’s collaboration with Chedraui will be its first pilot in Mexico. As of February 2022, Cust2Mate is operational across 32 sites globally. In Q4 of 2021, the company embarked on a 60-day pilot with the Morton Williams supermarket in the New York metropolitan area. Further pilots are pending in Mexico, the US, and the UAE.

  • Cust2Mate is a subsidiary of A2Z Smart Technologies Corp, an Israel-based provider of military-grade technology solutions to customers in Israel and Canada. A2Z has also leveraged its experience in the defense and security sector to develop a range of technology-based solutions for the civilian market. Aside from Cust2Mate’s mobile self-checkout carts, some of A2Z’s flagship products include automotive fire-prevention systems, remote-controlled bomb disposal, fire-fighting robots, and portable energy smart-packs.
