Flutterwave raises USD 250 million in Series D funding

Funding

 • Flutterwave, a Nigeria and US-based cross-border payment infrastructure provider, has raised USD 250 million in a Series D funding round led by B Capital Group with participation from Alta Park Capital, Whale Rock Capital, Lux Capital, and Tiger Global, among others.

The round values the company at more than USD 3 billion (3x its USD 1 billion Series C valuation in March 2021) and brings Flutterwave’s total funds raised to USD 484.7 million. Reportedly, this makes the company the highest valued African startup to date.

 • The company intends to utilize the funds to accelerate customer acquisition in its existing markets, enter into M&A deals, and for further product development including developing complementary products.

 • Flutterwave also noted that its platform is currently used by over 900,000 businesses (vs 290,000 a year ago), and it has processed 200+ million transactions, translating into USD 16+ billion in value since its inception in 2016. The company currently has operations across 34 African countries.
