Antora Energy, a long-duration energy storage startup, raised USD 50 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Lowercarbon Capital. The round brings Antora’s total funding to USD 51.2 million.
New investors Shell Ventures, BHP Ventures, Grok Ventures, Trust Ventures, Overture VC, and Impact Science Ventures and existing investor Fifty Years also participated in the round.
The proceeds will be used to commercialize Antora’s thermal energy storage solution at large industrial sites.
Founded in 2018, Antora is a thermal energy storage developer that converts and stores renewable energy, such as wind and solar, as heat. Renewable energy is used to heat up solid carbon blocks at high temperatures and stored in Antora’s thermal batteries, providing heat of upto 1,500 °C or is converted into electricity.
