AgEagle Aerial Systems (AgEagle), a drone manufacturer, has partnered with Valqari, the developer of a patented drone landing platform, to pilot an on-demand drone delivery service to deliver food and beverages to golfers at the Sun City Country Club in Arizona. AgEagle stated that the pilot is its first step toward ascertaining the viability of such commercial drone delivery applications.
During the demo held last week, a delivery drone was flown to pick up the food order from a Valqari drone delivery station positioned outside a restaurant and deliver it to another station at the golf course.
Kansas-based AgEagle primarily offers drone-based solutions for aerial imagery-based data collection and analytics for the agriculture sector. In September 2019, the company entered the drone-based package delivery space, supplying drones for an e-commerce company. The deal was further extended in a follow-up purchase order in April 2020. In October 2020, AgEagle entered into a two-year exclusive agreement with Valqari to manufacture its drone delivery stations.
Chicago-based Valqari develops a patented landing platform for delivery drones called Smart Drone Delivery Mailbox. The platform is equipped with integration techniques to communicate with the drone company during the delivery process. In September 2020, the company launched an upgraded version with six separate storage units to support multiple deliveries and pickups.
