mmhmm, a tool that enhances online video meeting presentations, announced that it has launched out of beta and will be available for all Mac users for free. mmhmm has been in invite-only beta since July 2020, with more than 100,000 signups to date.
The company is also introducing “Premium Tools,” which provides users a fully customizable interface with presenter controls and add-ons. Users can access Premium Tools in a seven-day trial, while full access will cost USD 9.99 per month. The tools will be offered free of charge to its beta testers for three months, while students and educators will get one year. mmhmm Basic users will still have access to the platform’s standard features, such as video chat, record, default backgrounds, and presenter mode, and have access to Premium Tools for up to 60 minutes a day.
The public launch also brings a couple of new features, namely, Big Hand Mode and Creative Services. Big Hand Mode will offer gestural communication for video calls, and its availability will be limited to users of the brand new Apple M1-powered Macs. Through Creative Services, mmhmm will personalize its offering and offer production support for corporate events and conferences, opening up an additional revenue stream.
Founded in 2020, mmhmm allows users to share presentations, web browsers, and videos while the speaker remains on screen for a more interactive video conferencing experience. The platform already connects with video conferencing tools from Cisco, Google, Microsoft, and Zoom, as well as YouTube. The company is currently working on a Windows beta version, having raised USD 35.6 million in total funding to date.
