Bluu Bioscience renames to Bluu Seafood to reflect change in vision to produce cell-based fish

Product updates

  • Bluu Bioscience, the first European cultivated seafood startup, has announced that it has changed its name to Bluu Seafood to better reflect its transition to a producer of cell-based fish from a research-based biotech startup.

  • The company is currently focusing on developing a market-ready product for cell-based fish using plant-based ingredients that is similar to wild-caught or aquacultured seafood in terms of texture, taste, and cooking behavior.

  • Bluu Seafood plans to launch its cell-based product in the second half of 2022 and also noted that it is likely to launch first in either Asia, the UK, or the US before launching in the EU due to current regulatory requirements on cell-based products in EU countries.
