Aether Diamonds, a company developing lab-grown diamonds from CO2 emissions, has raised USD 18 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Helena and TRIREC. The round was also supported by SOUNDWaves, Khosla Ventures, and Social Impact Capital.
The company expects to use the proceeds to scale up its proprietary carbon utilization technology to grow diamonds.

Founded in 2018, Aether Diamonds produces diamonds and jewelry from carbon emissions. The company purchases CO2 from Climeworks’ facility in Switzerland and uses emissions to grow diamonds. Aether uses a proprietary process to convert CO2 into high purity methane, which is then injected into the company’s diamond reactors. The company commits to removing 20 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere for every carat of diamond sold.
