Rocket.Chat, an open-source enterprise messaging platform, raised USD 19 million in Series A funding led by Valor Capital Group, Greycroft, Monashees, and NEA. The round also included participation from e.ventures, Graphene Ventures, ONEVC, and DGF.
The fresh funding will be allocated toward customer acquisition and platform development. Specifically, the platform is looking to beef up its security, add options for bots, and enhance functionality for virtual events.
The company reported that it gained 11.3 million registered users over the past six months, representing around 70% of its user base.
Rocket.Chat is a communication and collaboration platform. It offers a wide gamut of features, including free audio and video conferencing, guest access, screen sharing, file sharing, and LiveChat. The platform is considered a more secure platform due to its two-factor authentication (2FA), E2E encryption, and open-source features. The platform has 16 million registered users and 8 million monthly active users across 150 countries. As a result of its open-source nature, its clients comprise several military and public sector organizations, including the U.S. Navy and financial services companies like Credit Suisse and Citibank.
