Heirloom raises USD 53 million in Series A funding

Funding

  • Heirloom, a direct air capture (DAC) startup, has secured USD 53 million in a Series A round co-led by Carbon Direct Capital Management, Ahren Innovation Capital, and Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Other participating investors were Breyer Capital, Grantham Environmental Trust,  Lowercarbon Capital,  TIME Ventures, Carbon Removal Partners, Seven Seven Six, and The Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund.

  • The proceeds will be used to scale research and development.

  • Founded in 2020, Heirloom states that its technology has the lowest peer-reviewed cost of any DAC process in the world. The company has also attracted several early customers including Stripe, Shopify, and Klarna. Heirloom attempts to remove one billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere by 2025.
