Platform Science to integrate ‘Virtual Vehicle’ into Navistar trucks

Partnerships

 • Platform Science, a provider of IoT-based fleet management solutions, has partnered with the truck manufacturer Navistar to integrate its “Virtual Vehicle” open OEM platform into the latter’s international truck models in 2023.

Virtual Vehicle, one of the product offerings of Platform Science, was launched in November 2021 in collaboration with Daimler Trucks North America. It is an open-source OEM platform that allows fleets to customize their software by giving telematics providers, third-party developers, and other parties access to real-time data directly from the vehicle.

 • The integration will add to Navistar’s connected services platform “OnCommand Connection,” which collects vehicle health and performance data from 30+ telematics partner integrations.

Analyst QuickTake: Navistar is not the first truck OEM to have integrated Platform Science’s technology. In mid-2020, Platform Science partnered with Daimler Trucks North America to factory install its technology on Freightliner vehicles.
