Storegga Geotechnologies, a British carbon capture and storage (CCS) solution provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mitsui, a Japanese trading and investment provider, to commercialize DAC technology.
Under the agreement, Storegga and Mitsui will support the deployment of the UK's first DAC facility in Northeast Scotland, with plans to capture five million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per annum by 2030. The captured CO2 will be transported to the Acorn CCS project for permanent sequestration.
Storegga will integrate Mitsui’s technical expertise to commercialize its proprietary DAC technology and will further assess the feasibility for Mitsui to co-invest in and offtake credits from the DAC project.
