Clearview AI, a developer of facial recognition-based solutions for law enforcement, has disclosed plans to launch facial recognition for commercial use, targeting banks and private businesses.
Reportedly, the product will be consent-based and will not involve the company’s current database of 20 billion images collected from the internet without the owner’s explicit consent, which it uses for law enforcement.
The proposed new product targets use cases like identity checks to validate bank transactions and other commercial purposes.
The exact timeline of the product launch is not yet disclosed.
