  • Evrnu, a Seattle-based startup offering textile waste minimizing solutions, has collaborated with designer brand Carlos Campos to launch a premium T-shirt made from Evrnu’s “100% NuCycl r-lyocell” material.

  • The material is developed using Evrnu’s technology platform “NuCycl” and is a high-performance, 100% recyclable lyocell material made from cotton textile waste. Though the material is equivalent in performance to conventional nylon and polyester materials, it can also be recycled up to 10x.

  • The T-shirt made with the material is available for purchase on Carlos Campos’ website at USD 110.

  • This marks Evrnu’s first commercial use case of its recyclable material. The company notes that it is building a new facility in the southeast US to scale production. The facility is expected to process up to 17,000 metric tons of pulp and 2,000 tons of fiber per year.

  • Evrnu also reports that it is looking to partner with more brands over the upcoming months to successfully commercialize its 100% NuCycl r-lyocell material.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Upon raising  USD 15 million  in its Series B round in November 2021, Evrnu reported that it is looking to commercialize its technology and is signing R&D contracts to deploy its technology into the home furnishing and automotive industries. However, apparel seems to have been the first area in which Evrnu has been able to commercialize its recycled fiber material. The upcoming partnerships could be in the furnishing and automotive industries.
