Noissue,a New Zealand-based sustainable B2B packaging solutions provider, has acquired Tapkit, a British startup offering digital customer experiences using QR codes and microsites (web page for brands/products), for USD 2.3 million in a combined cash and stock deal. Following the acquisition, Noissue was stated to be valued at USD 100 million.
Using Tapkit’s platform, companies and brands can design their own microsite and integrate QR codes into their packaging, which can be scanned by customers. Microsites can be used for applications such as how-to guides, instructional videos, and prompting re-orders. Tapkit has worked with popular brands such as L’Oreal, NYX, TRIBE, and Little Cooks.
Post-acquisition, the Tapkit team will be joining Noissue’s product, design, and engineering division to introduce Tapkit’s digital experience to Noissue’s packaging products such as boxes, hang tags, cards, and kraft mailers. For instance, packaging products can integrate Tapkit’s QR code technology, allowing Noissue customers to keep track of their products digitally.
Some of Noissue’s customers who have already used Tapkit include Butter Baby Bakery, a US-based cake and dessert shop that uses microsites to inform customers which supermarkets its products will be available at, and Lolita, a ceramic necklace maker that uses microsites to provide necklace care instructions.
