Skiff, a collaborative document editing platform, announced that it raised USD 3.7 million in a seed funding round led by Sequoia Capital (VC firm), with participation from John Hennessy (chairman, Alphabet), Jerry Yang (former CEO, Yahoo), and Julia and Kevin Hartz (co-founders, Eventbrite).
The round comes just one year after the company’s launch in March 2020. The funding proceeds will be utilized to expand its team and further develop its platform.
Along with the funding announcement, the company also revealed its advisory board, which includes Erinmichelle Perri (CISO, The New York Times), Ehren Kret (CTO, Signal Messenger), Alex Stamos (Director, Stanford Internet Observatory), and Dan Guido (CEO, Trail of Bits). The company claimed that the board is involved in decisions regarding its products, team, and security.
Founded in March 2020, Skiff offers an end-to-end encrypted document editing platform similar to Google Docs. The platform provides users with secure workspaces to collaborate in real time. Skiff is used by journalists, researcher scientists, and human resource lawyers. The platform is currently in private beta with a waitlist of 8,000 signups.
