Enerkem, a Canadian waste-to-energy provider, has raised CAD 255 million (USD 203 million) in a funding round led by Repsol. The round brings Enerkem’s total funding to USD 820 million.
Repsol invested CAD 170 million (USD 136 million) in the round. Monarch Alternative Capital (CAD 30 million or USD 24 million) and existing investor Avenue Capital Group (CAD 30 million or USD 24 million) also participated.
The proceeds will be used to expand Enerkem’s geographical footprint in Europe and to scale up the deployments of its gasification technology.
