Product updates

  • Lucid Motors, a Nasdaq-listed EV maker, has launched new editions of its luxury sedan Lucid Air. Customer deliveries have already started for the Grand Touring edition and the new Grand Touring Performance edition is expected to go into production in spring 2022.

  • The Lucid Air Grand Touring has a horsepower of 819, a top speed of 168 mph, and a range of 516 miles. The Grand Touring Performance has a horsepower of 1,050, a top speed of 168 mph, and a range of 446 miles. The former has a starting price of USD 139,000 and the latter USD 179,000.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The two models will compete closely with Tesla’s Model S, offered at a starting price of USD 130,000, with a horsepower of 1,020, and a range of 396 miles. Lucid Motors first went to market with the 1,111-horsepower Lucid Air Dream Edition, which started production in September 2021 but was capped at 520 units. The company had received 25,000 reservations for the Air as of February 2022 and plans to deliver 12,000–14,000 units in 2022.
