DoorDash, the US market leader in online food delivery, announced the launch of “DashPass for Students,” a discounted subscription plan for college students. The new program builds on its existing DashPass (launched in 2018), allowing DoorDash to make its services more accessible to students across the US.
The student DashPass subscription offers a monthly subscription plan priced at USD 4.99 per month, indicating a ~50% reduction from the standard monthly DashPass subscription (USD 9.99 per month), and an annual subscription plan priced at USD 48 per annum. The program offers unlimited free delivery on orders above USD 12 and 10% off annual order subtotals from reduced service fees; 5% DoorDash credits on eligible pickup orders; and exclusive promotions and menu items for members. Subscribers can start using the DashPass for students now on a 30-day free trial.
The company believes that the personalized program will “change the game for students” by providing access to a wide range of products including snacks, grocery items, school supplies, and dormitory essentials.
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: DoorDash offers a much cheaper alternative to college students compared to competitors Uber Eats and Grubhub (a subsidiary of Just Eat Takeaway), both priced at USD 9.99 per month. The new program is set to narrow the competition and increase its presence in a very active customer base. In a recent survey , it was reported that 70% of college students use a delivery service once a week (minimum), with an average of four orders every seven days.<ul>
