Amazon announced that it would bring its Just Walk Out cashier-less technology to a Major League Baseball stadium for the first time.
Initially, Just Walk Out will be deployed in two food and beverage stores—the 19th Hole and The Market—at Minute Maid Park in Texas, the home stadium of the Houston Astros.
The cashier-less technology is intended to provide baseball fans with a streamlined and convenient shopping experience so that they can spend more time enjoying the sport.
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: With the launch of Just Walk Out technology at a sports stadium, Amazon is fast following in the footsteps of automated checkout solutions startups like AiFi and Zippin. By March 2022, AiFi had already expanded its presence to NFL stadiums on the heels of shorter queues and higher value transactions, while Zippin had launched its second checkout-free store with Aramark in Houston’s multi-purpose NRG stadium . Moving forward, sports stadiums will continue to represent a lucrative opportunity for first-movers in automated checkout, leading providers to jostle for market share across sports arenas and geographies.<ul>
