Oyster raises USD 150 million in Series C funding; reaches unicorn status

Funding

Oyster, a global HR management, hiring, payroll, and benefits platform, has raised USD 150 million in a Series C funding round led by Georgian. New investors including Salesforce Ventures, LinkedIn, Base10 Partners, Okta, and existing investors such as Stripes, Emergence Capital, PayPal Ventures, and Slack Fund also participated. The round brings its valuation to over USD 1 billion, from a USD 475 million valuation at the time of Oyster’s USD 50 million Series B funding round in June 2021 .

 • The fresh funds will be used for platform development and to invest in the “People Ops” community.

 • In 2021, Oyster’s revenue grew by over 20x and the number of employees on the platform increased by 17x. Notably, in the first quarter of 2022, Oyster attracted over 20,000 job applications for client vacancies.

Analyst Quicktake : Oyster achieved unicorn status by doubling its valuation in less than 12 months, indicative of solid growth. In fact, we featured Oyster at #46 in the EDGE100 report, where we identified the most promising early-stage startups across various emerging industries that have the potential to reshape the future.
