Fluence partners with Centrica and Google to deploy backup power system

Partnerships

  • Fluence, a company offering long-duration energy storage solutions and AI-enabled energy storage optimization software, and Centrica Business Solutions, a British developer of integrated energy solutions, have collaborated with Google to deploy a carbon-free energy backup system at a data center in Saint-Ghislain, Belgium.

  • The collaboration utilizes a battery-based energy storage system to reduce the number of diesel generators to provide backup power to the data center.

  • Under the agreement, Fluence will deploy a 2.75-megawatt Gridstack energy storage product at the data center. Centrica will connect the battery storage systems to the Belgian electricity grid, enabling Google’s on-site batteries to store and discharge energy using Centrica’s specialized FlexPond software.
