Unicorn Biotechnologies, a UK-based startup developing a biomanufacturing platform to scale up cultivated meat production, has raised USD 3.2 million in a seed funding round led by Acequia Capital. SOSV, Marinya, Capital, Alumni Venture, C3, and CULT Food Science also joined the round.
The funding will support commercialization and R&D efforts as well as the expansion of its team. The company plans to present a proof-of-concept (POC) solution capable of producing kilograms of cells by the end of 2022 and enter into pilot projects by early 2023.
