Loliware, a producer of cups and cutlery using proprietary patented technology, has introduced a seaweed-based pellet produced using its proprietary “SEA technology,” aiming to replace plastic on a large scale.
Loliware’s SEA technology combines a proprietary blend of ocean-farmed seaweed, minerals, and natural colors to create bio-based pellets, which can be used to produce biodegradable products such as straws, thereby replacing the use of conventional single-use plastic products.
Loliware states that its technology is universally compatible with existing manufacturing equipment, including those of plastic manufacturers. Therefore, it plans to directly partner with large manufacturers to scale the production of its seaweed-based products.
As of now, the company has partnered with packaging manufacturer Sinclair and Rush, who will use the pellets to scale the production of Loliware’s seaweed-based “Blue Carbon Straw.” The straws are being produced on a large scale at Sinclair and Rush’s St.Louis facility and are available for purchase.
