Volta Trucks, a Sweden-based developer of fully electric trucks, has unveiled the 7.5 and 12-tonne variants of its Volta Zero fully-electric truck, which originally came as a 16-tonne model.
Both the trucks are visually identical at the front, but the 12-tonne version comes with a longer chassis and body as well as a second set of rear wheels and tires.
The company expects to launch a pilot fleet of vehicles of the two models for customer trials in 2024, with series production to start in early 2025.
These models now complete the company’s product line that includes the 16-tonne version, which is currently under testing ahead of launching at customer sites, and the 18-tonne version, which is to go into production next year. The company believes the latest models will also contribute to achieving its sales target of 27,000 units by 2025.

Analyst QuickTake: The news comes just two months after Volta Trucks raised EUR 230 million (USD 260 million) in a Series C funding, partially to develop its 12-tonne and 7.5-tonne variants. The company first announced the expansion of its product line to include more variants in May 2021 . It announced the entry of its 7.5 and 12-tonne models into the engineering phase of development last December.
