Redwire Corporation, a prominent player in the space infrastructure industry, has revealed its first pathfinder mission for its autonomous semiconductor manufacturing platform, MSTIC, set to launch to the International Space Station via Northrop Grumman's 20th cargo resupply services mission.
The MSTIC, designed for autonomous semiconductor manufacturing in space, represents an innovation in space manufacturing technology. It is equipped with features for autonomous operation, semiconductor production, and compatibility with the space environment for operation aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Analyst QuickTake: Redwire has been involved in in-space manufacturing and production for some time. In 2023 , it successfully bio-printed a human knee meniscus aboard the ISS using its BioFabrication Facility. The company also announced the first commercial greenhouse on the ISS, supporting space exploration and crop production research for outer space missions.
