Infleqtion successfully tests spoof- and jam-proof quantum navigation tech in commercial flight

Industry news

  • UK-based quantum hardware company Infleqtion and aerospace companies BAE Systems and QinetiQ have successfully concluded the first-ever trial of quantum-based navigation systems in commercial flights. The technology is reportedly spoof- and jam-proof.

  • The trials, funded by the UK Government, involved QinetiQ’s modified aircraft, RJ100 Airborne Technology Demonstrator, which housed Infleqtion’s optical atomic clock, “Tiqker,” and ultra-cold-atom-based quantum system as part of a Quantum Inertial Navigation System (Q-INS).

  • The technology is aimed at enhancing the existing positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems that are presently reliant on the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and global positioning system (GPS). Due to disruption, GNSS/GPS systems are prone to various economic, defense, and strategic risks.
