Betterment, a hybrid robo advisory platform for retail investors and institutions, announced a partnership with Gemini, a crypto exchange and custodian, to expand its product offering.

Founded in 2014, Gemini is a platform that facilitates crypto and digital asset exchange, custodial and digital asset management, and other related services for retail investors and institutional clients.

Through this partnership, Betterment plans to integrate its platform with Gemini to offer curated crypto portfolios with listed digital assets on Gemini’s exchange. It also plans to utilize Gemini’s custodian services to allow its users to increase their investment exposure to cryptocurrencies, digital assets, and invest in crypto-based portfolios. 

Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this year, Betterment acquired Makara to launch cryptocurrency portfolios and also intends to leverage Makara’s team of crypto experts and engineers to venture into crypto-based offerings following the close of this transaction.
