Naturbeads raises GBP 7.8 million in Series A funding to build production plant

Funding

  • Naturbeads, a UK-based startup developing cellulose-based replacements for microplastics, has secured GBP 7.8 million (~USD 9.8 million) in Series A funding led by Eos Advisory, with participation from Progress Tech Transfer, CDP Venture Capital, PI-NB, and Paragon Capital Management.

  • The funding will be used to build its first production plant in Puglia, Italy, and increase production capacity to meet growing industry demand for sustainable ingredients.

  • Founded in 2018, Naturbeads is a spinout from The University of Bath, aiming to address microplastic pollution, targeting microplastics added to everyday products. The company reports that it is collaborating with a number of global manufacturers to integrate its cellulose microsphere ingredients into various industrial applications and expects to announce its first commercial milestones during 2025.
