Exide Industries Limited (BSE: 500086) is India's largest manufacturer of lead-acid storage batteries and power storage solutions. Founded in 1947 as Associated Battery Makers (Eastern) Ltd, it was acquired by the Rajan Raheja Group in 1993 and renamed Exide Industries Limited in 1995. The company has been a pioneer in energy storage in India, setting new standards for sustainability and scalability over its long history.

Exide's product portfolio includes:

• Automotive batteries for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and electric vehicles

• Industrial batteries for UPS systems, power plants, telecom applications, and infrastructure projects

In recent years, Exide has been expanding into the lithium-ion battery space to cater to the growing electric vehicle market in India. Its subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions Limited is setting up a 12 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant in Karnataka in collaboration with SVOLT Energy Technology of China. The first phase of six GWh capacity is expected to be operational by end of FY2025.

As of June 2024, Exide Industries reported revenues of INR 15,078 crore and a net profit of INR 823 crore for FY2023. The company continues to invest in new technologies and expand its product range to maintain its leadership position in India's evolving energy storage market.
