Germany-based Klima offers a mobile app to calculate and offset users’ personal carbon footprints. Klima estimates the carbon footprint from a set of lifestyle questions and offers a personalized monthly subscription, to offset the footprint. Klima also allows users to pick which offset projects to fund (out of the range of reforestation, renewable energy, and behavior modification projects offered on the platform). Klima’s take rate is around 30% of the monthly subscription and is higher than the industry average of around 15%-20%. In April 2022, Klima launched its B2B product offering “Klima for Teams,” enabling companies to incorporate personal climate action into their organizational and team culture.

As of February 2024, the Klima app was live in 74 countries, and had offset more than 100,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Funding and financials

Klima’s most recent funding was in April 2022, when it raised EUR 10 million (USD 10.6 million) in a Series A funding round led by Keen Venture Partners. The funds were used to develop its B2B platform “Klima for Teams,” and to expand its geographical footprint across the US and Central Europe.
