UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) is a diversified healthcare company headquartered in Minnesota, US. Founded in 1977, the company has grown to become one of the top ten largest companies in the world by revenue ( 2023 ). UnitedHealth generated USD 371.6 billion revenue in 2023.

UnitedHealth Group operates through two major segments: UnitedHealthcare, which primarily provides health insurance coverage and health programs, and Optum, a pharmacy benefit manager and healthcare provider. UnitedHealthcare offers a range of health benefits for several customer groups including employers and individual consumers (UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual), Medicare beneficiaries and retirees (UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement) and state Medicaid and community program participants (UnitedHealthcare Community & State). Optum provides care and health financial services (Optum Health); research, consulting, and managed services solutions (Optum Insights); and pharmacy care services (Optum Rx). Overall, UnitedHealthcare is the larger of the two segments in terms of revenue, accounting for ~55% of total revenue in 2023.

The company primarily operates in the US and US territories, also serving international markets including Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and 150 other countries through its UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual business (~2% of total revenue in 2023). UnitedHealth expects 13%–16% YoY earnings per share growth from 2024 onwards, with double-digit revenue growth planned for its Optum business and 8%–10% YoY revenue growth planned for its UnitedHealthcare business.
